Privacy policy

What FMC Technologies collects through this website, the FMC Hub and the FMC Hub app for iPhone and iPad, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

Last updated October 9, 2026

The short version

  • We use your information to do the work you hired us for. That means monitoring your buildings, telling you about alarms, and handling your service requests.
  • We don't sell it, and we don't advertise with it. There are no advertising cookies on our sites, and we don't track you across other companies' sites or apps.
  • A few companies process it for us. Amazon Web Services hosts the Hub, QuickBase runs our service dispatch, and AI services read the bills and documents you upload. The full list is below.
  • The app doesn't track you. It never asks for your location, and it has no advertising or analytics of its own.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information. Email info@fmc-technologies.com or call (978) 856-7862.

Who we are and what this covers

FMC Technologies, Inc. designs, installs and services building automation and energy management systems. Our office is at 27 Industrial Avenue, Chelmsford, Massachusetts 01824. In this policy, "FMC", "we" and "us" mean FMC Technologies, Inc.

This policy covers:

  • our websites at fmc-technologies.com and fmc-hub.com;
  • the FMC Hub, the online portal where our customers and our own staff sign in; and
  • the FMC Hub app for iPhone and iPad, including its widgets, Siri shortcuts and notifications.

It doesn't cover your building automation station itself. The EMS button in the Hub opens software that runs on equipment your organization owns, and that software has its own terms. It also doesn't cover other companies' websites that we link to.

Information we collect

What you give us

  • Inquiries. When you contact us or ask for a walkthrough, we collect your name, email address, phone number, company, the building you're asking about and your message. If you use the savings estimator, we also collect the building details you enter and any utility bills you upload.
  • Job applications. Your name, email address, phone number, the position you're interested in, your message and any resume you attach.
  • FMC Hub accounts. Hub accounts are for our customers and our own staff. An account holds your name, email address, phone number, job title, company and the buildings you're linked to.
  • Service requests. What you describe, the equipment and priority, your contact details, any photos or files you attach, and the messages you and FMC exchange about the request.
  • Documents and bills you upload to the Hub.
  • Proposal approvals. When you accept a proposal online, your name, email address and typed signature.
  • Anything else you send us, such as a bug report or an email.

What your building systems report

When we monitor a building for you, we collect operating data from its building automation system: equipment status, alarms, schedules, trends and energy meter readings. This is information about buildings rather than people, though it can include the names of people who changed a setting or dismissed an alarm, and any notes they typed.

What's recorded automatically

  • Security records. When someone signs in to the Hub, fails to sign in, or changes certain settings, we record the time, the account, the IP address and the type of browser or device. Our website forms record the IP address and browser type too, so we can stop spam and abuse.
  • Cookies and browser storage. We use a session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects our forms from forgery. When you're signed in to the Hub, a second cookie holds your first name so our public pages can greet you. Your browser also remembers your light or dark appearance setting. We don't use advertising cookies. Cloudflare and Sucuri, which protect our sites, may set their own cookies to block bots and attacks.
  • Visit counts. On our fmc-hub.com addresses, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits for us without using cookies or identifying individual visitors.
  • Maps and fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and some pages and the app show maps from Google Maps. Your browser or device connects to Google to load them, so Google receives your IP address.

The FMC Hub app for iPhone and iPad

The app signs in to the same Hub account and shows the same information as the website. It also handles the following:

  • Notifications. To send push notifications, we store the token Apple gives your device, along with the app version, the iOS version and a generic device name such as "iPhone". We also store the tokens iOS provides for Live Activities, so a load shed at one of your buildings can appear on your Lock Screen.
  • Face ID and Touch ID. iOS handles these entirely, and FMC never receives your face or fingerprint data. If you choose to stay signed in with Face ID or Touch ID, the app keeps your email address and password in your device's Keychain, where iOS releases them only after a successful scan. The app uses them only to sign you back in to the Hub.
  • Camera and photos. The app uses the camera or your photo library only when you choose to add a photo or a file, such as to a service request, a building's documents or a bug report, or to scan a utility bill.
  • Location. The app never asks for your location. iOS lists a location description for the app because the Google Maps component that draws your buildings requires one.
  • Widgets, Siri and Spotlight. The app keeps a small summary of your buildings on your device, such as their names, current status and open service requests, so widgets and Siri can show it. Widgets you place on the Lock Screen can show that summary while your device is locked. Spotlight indexes your building names on your device only. Signing out of the app removes all of this from your device.
  • No tracking. The app has no advertising identifier, and no analytics or crash-reporting services of its own. The only third-party code it contains is Google Maps, which connects to Google to draw the map and is covered by Google's privacy policy.

How we use information

  • To provide our services: monitoring your buildings, reporting alarms and energy use, scheduling and dispatching service, and keeping your documents in one place.
  • To keep you informed, with the notifications and emails you've chosen and messages about your service requests.
  • To answer inquiries, prepare estimates and proposals, and consider job applicants.
  • To keep accounts, our systems and your buildings secure, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To bill for our work and keep business records.
  • To fix problems and improve our services.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.

Features that use AI

Some features send content to an AI service provider, such as OpenAI or Anthropic, to read or summarize it. They are:

  • reading a utility bill you upload, on our website's savings estimator or in the Hub, so you don't have to type it in;
  • suggesting titles for documents and service requests, and drafting a service request from your description and photos when you ask the Hub to;
  • summarizing building alarms in plain language, including any notes typed when an alarm was dismissed;
  • answering questions you ask about a building's data; and
  • helping FMC staff write service reports, review proposals and file documents.

We send only the content each feature needs, and the provider receives it in order to produce the result.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as described here.

Companies that work for us

Amazon Web Services
Hosts the Hub's servers and database in the United States, and sends our email through Amazon SES.
Cloudflare and Sucuri
Protect our websites from attacks and abuse. Cloudflare Turnstile also checks that website forms are filled out by a person, which means Cloudflare receives your IP address.
QuickBase
Our job management system. When you file a service request, the request and your name, phone number and email address go to QuickBase so we can dispatch it.
Microsoft 365
Our company email. Service requests, website inquiries and messages you send us arrive in FMC mailboxes.
Google
Maps, address lookup and travel-time estimates through Google Maps Platform, and the fonts our pages use.
Apple
Delivers push notifications. The text of a notification, such as a service request title or the first lines of a reply, passes through Apple's notification service.
AI service providers
The content described in Features that use AI.
ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
Run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If you share a property with FMC there, we read its data and can add utility bill readings to it.
National Weather Service
Receives your building's location, so we can compare energy use with the weather.

People at your organization

Everyone at your organization who is linked to a building in the Hub can see that building's service requests, documents and alarm history, including who filed or commented on a request.

For legal reasons

We may share information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our customers, our staff or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.

How long we keep it

We keep account, building and service records for as long as we provide services to your organization, and afterward for as long as we need them for business records, legal obligations or resolving disputes. Some information has shorter limits:

  • Utility bills uploaded to the savings estimator but never sent to us are deleted automatically.
  • Password reset links expire after 30 minutes.
  • Detailed equipment trend samples are kept for 45 days. Energy meter history is kept for as long as we serve the building.
  • The app's saved copies of your buildings on your device expire within a week and are deleted when you sign out.

When we no longer need personal information, or when you ask us to delete it and we're not required to keep it, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

Your choices and rights

  • Notifications. Choose which notifications you get, by push or email and building by building, under Account in the app. You can also turn push notifications off in your device's Settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails.
  • Face ID and Touch ID. Turn them off under Account in the app.
  • Your device. Signing out of the app removes your saved sign-in, the summary its widgets use and its saved copies of your buildings.
  • Seeing, correcting and deleting. Ask us for a copy of your personal information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@fmc-technologies.com or calling (978) 856-7862. We'll confirm the request comes from you before we act on it. Hub accounts are part of your organization's service with FMC, so we may let your organization know when an account is closed. We may keep some records, such as service history, invoices and security logs, where we need them for legal or business reasons.
  • Your state's privacy law. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to appeal our decision about your request. We won't treat you differently for asking.
  • Cookies. Your browser can block or delete cookies. If you block our session cookie, you won't be able to sign in to the Hub.

How we protect it

  • Connections to our websites and the app are encrypted with HTTPS.
  • We store passwords as salted hashes, never as readable text, and lock an account for a time after repeated failed sign-in attempts.
  • The passwords FMC uses to reach building automation stations are encrypted.
  • Customers see only the buildings linked to their account, and FMC staff see what their work requires.
  • In the app, a saved sign-in stays in your device's Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID, and with Face ID or Touch ID on, the app locks again after a minute in the background.

No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

FMC employees and job applicants

If you apply for a job, we keep your application and resume so we can consider you for openings. If you work for FMC, the Hub also holds your onboarding paperwork, your time and leave records, and your home address, which we use with Google Maps to estimate travel times to job sites. Your manager can tell you more about how we handle employee records.

Children

Our websites, the Hub and the app are for businesses and the people who work for them. They aren't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the Hub or by email.
